Title:     A framework for the modelling and simulation of logistic networks

Authors:   Falko Bause, Heinz Beilner, Marcus Völker

This article describes current research activities and results of a project, Structured Models of Large Logistic Networks and Efficient Simulation, part of the Collaborative Research Centre, Modelling of Large Logistic Networks. We present a modelling paradigm for the integral description and analysis of logistic networks. The modelling paradigm is based on so-called process chains. By way of an example, we discuss the modelling of procurement channels. A framework is also presented for increasing the efficiency of simulating logistic networks by an integration of non-simulative model analysis techniques.
